C.H.I.P. OF GRANTS PASS
WHAT IS CHIP? The CORONARY HEALTH IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
is a lifestyle intervention program that has a lot of people talking in Grants Pass. Graduates have learned to take charge of their health and restore energy and vibrant health. The CHIP lifestyle program is designed to dramatically reduce and even reverse your risk of atherosclerosis (narrowing of the arteries). This silent process in the blood vessels is America's number one killer. If you are overweight, have high blood pressure, diabetes, angina, or high cholesterol or wish to avoid these problems, CHIP is for you. The program duration is four weeks, with participants in class for two hours Monday through Thursday evenings. Cooking demonstrations are an integral part of the class, with CHIP approved dishes served nightly. Dr. Brad Personius, CHIP Medical Director, says: "This is the antidote to: 'Super Size Me'. Serious diseases can be remarkably improved with a simple unrefined diet and lifestyle."
CHIP OF GRANTS PASS ALUMNI
The first CHIP class of Grants Pass graduated March 2005. There were 80 participants. They met for 2 hours a day, Monday through Thursday, for 4 weeks. Some spent an additional hour before class walking "on campus" with an exercise coach. Others walked on their own. The total "miles" covered equalled the distance from Grants Pass to New Zealand! At the beginning of the program, participants were assessed with a lifestyle report and blood screen. At the end of the 4 weeks, the lifestyle evaluation was reviewed to see the progress brought about by new, healthy choices. Another blood screen was administered and the results of the pre- and post program were compared. How exciting to see proof of real improvement in our health!

"A BIG thank you to all the CHIP volunteers for the part you played in bringing hope to our CHIP participants. No one could have done this alone. Your hours of unselfish giving are much appreciated. It was wonderful to work in unity with those who sought nothing in return."  Rosie Tresenriter
